Energy Champions Training Course

Are you interested in gaining control of energy usage in your business?

The Department of Economic Development are holding an Energy Champions training course on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th January 2015. Kevin Burnell will be undertaking the training. Mr Burnell is the director of Isle of Man quality and environmental management company ISO QA Ltd.

Energy Champions Training Course

The purpose of this course is to give interested parties a basic understanding of how to begin to take control of energy usage and the resultant environmental emissions. Energy Management is important as it impacts on costs and the environment and can be controlled as long as it is understood. This course works through the following processes to enable the Champion to influence change and savings within their organisation.

•        Implementing Change

•        Monitoring and Measurement

•        SBEM and EPCS BPEC

•        Case Studies

•        Energy Sources

•        Base Loads PF VO

•        Building Services and Fabric

•        Site visit – to be confirmed

The course is delivered in an open and friendly manner and opportunities exist for both general questions and one to one where required.

Cost: There is a charge of £100 per candidate to help cover the cost of the course.

The course is open to all businesses; however there is a maximum class size of 12. Should there be a large demand we may consider running another one later.

Remember if you would like to make use of the kerbside recycling collection service in Braddan please contact the Commissioners’ Office and we’d be delighted to assist.

If you’re already using the recycling service you can make sure you never forget to put your boxes out in future, by signing up for reminders from Douglas Borough Council by text message or email. You can also look up the recycling calendar for your area.

Act of Remembrance

A Two Minute Silence in remembrance of all those who have died in the Service of their Country will be observed in the Isle of Man at 11.00am on:-

Sunday 9th November 2014 (Remembrance Day) and Tuesday 11th November 2014 (Armistice Day)

Local Authorities are requested to make arrangements in their respective districts for giving warnings of the precise moment at which the Two Minute Silence will begin and end.

The full co-operation of the public in the observance of the Two Minute Silence is requested. The suspension of all vehicular traffic between 11.00am and 11.02am on the designated days is also requested and it is especially hoped that drivers of motor vehicles will stop the engines of vehicles during the periods of silence.

The Isle of Man National Service of Remembrance will be held at the Royal Chapel of St John’s at 3.00pm on Sunday 9th November 2014.  His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister will be present.  Members of the public wishing to attend are asked to be seated in the Church no later than 2.45pm.
