Please use this service instead of depositing grass cuttings in your general waste bin. Burning garden waste is expensive due to the weight and does nothing to help the environment.

A refuse vehicle will be in the car park at Braddan School on Saturday lunchtimes from 11.30 to 1pm to collect your green waste. It is then taken away and recycled into compost.

You may be asked for proof of address. We will accept:-

  • grass cuttings, hedge clippings, raw vegetable peelings etc
  • Please, no trees or branches or cooked food items.
  • Please use the entrance and exit to the school car park to avoid congestion.

Good news! We can now confirm that the recycling collection will resume from next week on Thursday 22 April.

To assist with the ease of collection can you please place your glass bottles in one container, mixed tin cans & plastic in another and lastly any paper and cardboard in a third.

We are anticipating significant quantities of material set out for collection, so would ask for your continued patience if your collection is delayed, please be assured that our contractor do their best to to catch up as quickly as possible.

Your new recycling calendar will be sent out next week with your rates bill so you will also have all the current details about what you can and can’t recycle etc.
If you need any more recycling boxes, please contact the Commissioners’ Office to arrange to collection.

Important Note: If any member of a household has tested positive, is symptomatic or awaiting test results, we kindly ask that you do not put your recycling boxes out for collection.

A reminder to all households in Braddan and in particular those returning to the Island, if you have tested positive, are awaiting test results or are experiencing COVID19 symptoms, all personal waste must be double bagged, and you should wait 48 hours before placing the bag in your refuse bin.

Those returning to the island who have not been tested, but are in the 2 week self-isolation period should follow the guidance above, until the period of self-isolation has elapsed.

With regard to the Kerbside Recycling Service, if a household is subject to any of the above mentioned criteria, we ask that you don’t set out your recycling boxes until the period of self-isolation has elapsed.

Thank you for cooperation,
