Heritage Trail Improvements
Regular users of the Heritage Trail in Braddan may have noticed some changes along the popular walk this week. Braddan Commissioners are pleased to announce that work has commenced on improving part of the section of the Heritage Trail they own, from Union Mills Industrial Estate and along the length of Cronk Grianagh Park.
After a tender process the Commissioners awarded the contract to Landscape Design & Management Limited. No major work has been carried out on this section of the Heritage Trail for nearly 20 years, so refurbishment is long overdue. Works include cutting back foliage and verges, clearing ditches and improving drainage along the length of the Heritage Trail & the Bull Road, including the curragh at the bottom of Cronk Grianagh Park.
The Railway Station will be tidied up and any dead trees and branches removed. Vegetation and silt will be scraped away from the path and the area resurfaced where required.
Sticking closely to the spirit of “No Waste in Braddan”, the road planings from Strang Road have been deposited in the car park next to the Heritage trail and these will be used to resurface as much of the path as possible. We will keep updating the gallery as work progresses.
